Police Offering $80k For Information After Philadelphia Girl Abducted

PHILADELPHIA (KDKA/AP) - The reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspects who abducted a 5-year-old Philadelphia girl now stands at $80,000 and police say there's a third person they've identified as a "person of interest" in the case.

Capt. John Darby of the Special Victims Unit said on Monday that police are looking for a 14- to 17-year-old girl who may be named "China." The victim told police the teen was in the house where she was held after the kidnapping.

Authorities say the little girl was abducted Jan. 14 from her elementary school. A woman wearing muslin-style clothing that covered her face and who called herself "Tiffany," walked into the school and signed out the girl.

At the time, school district officials said that allowing the girl to leave school with an unknown adult was a "serious break in procedure." District spokesman Fernando Gallard said the woman didn't wait at the school's front office as is district policy but went to her classroom and told a teacher that the child had already been "checked out" of school.

A passer-by found her early the next morning around 4 a.m., shivering, wearing only a T-shirt and hiding under a jungle gym on a playground about a mile away.

Police have been asking for the public's help in identifying the female abductor and a male accomplice.
