Missing Kansas Woman Tells Police She's OK

MOON TWP (KDKA) -- Officials believed a Kansas woman missing for more than a week might have been in danger and in the Pittsburgh area; but the woman has since contacted police to let them know that she's fine.

Megan Morgan Calhoun, 21, disappeared from her home in Junction City, Kan., on Aug. 17 -- several days after a domestic dispute with her live-in boyfriend, Steven Lockhart. "There was a domestic situation where Megan was injured," Moon Township Police Det. Sgt. Stanley Munger, Jr. told KDKA-TV on Thursday.

Lockhart, who has family in Moon Township, is wanted in Kansas for aggravated battery.

More concerns for her safety arose after Calhoun's mother said she hadn't heard from her daughter -- even though they usually talk often on the phone or via text messages.

Sgt. Munger said Calhoun's cell phone "was pinged to the Pittsburgh area" but then it appeared to have been turned off, so authorities thought she might be in Moon with Lockhart.

But police in Moon Township told KDKA-TV that Calhoun went into a police station in Brazil, Indiana last night to let them know that she was not injured or being held against her will.

Calhoun, a solder stationed at Fort Riley, is now on her way back to Kansas.
