Police: Man Kills Wife, Wounds Brother Before Turning Gun On Self
MONESSEN, Pa. (KDKA/AP) - Police believe a man fatally shot his estranged wife and wounded his brother before taking his own life in a shooting at a Monessen home.
According to the Westmoreland County Coroner's Office, the incident happened in the 1000-block of Alexander Avenue around 12:10 a.m.
Westmoreland County detectives and Monessen Police say the shooting appeared to be a murder-suicide.
Robert Pendleton, 36, allegedly entered the home and fatally shot 37-year-old Kelly Pendleton.
Robert also allegedly shot his estranged wife's brother Tom Brooks, who was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment.
After shooting the two victims, Robert turned the gun on himself.
Both Robert and Kelly were pronounced dead at the scene just before 4:30 a.m.
Brooks is expected to survive.
"They're real good people," said friend William Borodati. "Tom worked with me cutting grass this summer."
Investigators say Kelly Pendleton had filed for divorce, taking the couple's 12-year-old son with her. She was staying at her brother's home. Indications are that the young boy witnessed the horrific events.
