Police Kick-Off 'Opeation Safe Holiday'
WESTMORELAND COUNTY (KDKA) - State police kicked-off' 'Operation Safe Holiday' Tuesday with increased patrols on Route 30 in Westmoreland County.
Drivers who did not obey the Steer Clear Law, which requires motorists to slow down when passing a police officer on the side of the road and change lanes if possible, were pulled over and given a warning.
Police are also warning drivers not to drink and drive. The night before Thanksgiving is one of the most dangerous on the roads.
Police said there were more than 4,500 crashes in Pennsylvania last year over the Thanksgiving holiday. Forty-one of those crashes involved fatalities.
