Police-Involved Shooting Leaves 1 Man Injured
HOMEWOOD (KDKA) – A man was injured during a police-involved shooting in Homewood early Wednesday morning.
According to police, two narcotics detectives were patrolling an area near the 7700-block of Bennett Street when they heard shots being fired.
One detective got out of the vehicle to pursue the suspect on foot, while the other circled the block in the event that he took off running.
The detective on foot observed Anthony Scott, 24, of Verona, still firing his weapon in the direction of Hale Street.
He ordered Scott to drop his weapon. At that time, Scott allegedly turned toward the detective and began firing.
"Detectives ordered Mr. Scott to drop his weapon. At which time, Mr. Scott fired his weapon at the [detectives]. Detectives returned fire, the actor was struck multiple times. Neither detective sustained any injuries," Pittsburgh Police Chief Nate Harper said.
Scott was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, where he was last listed in stable condition.
Both of the detectives have been on the force for over 16 years and have been placed on paid administrative leave.
