Police Investigating Wild Parkway West Crash
ROBINSON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - A woman claims slippery roadways caused an accident in Robinson Township Monday morning.
The driver said her car slid on some ice and ran into a fruit truck, which caused both of them to lose control.
The accident happened on the Parkway West heading toward the Pittsburgh International Airport. A box truck was hit from behind and rolled, while the other vehicle involved ended up over a hillside.
"Someone or something hit me from behind and I lost control," David Wislosky said.
That's when it all began for Wislosky near Robinson Town Center.
"I was scared because I flipped after I hit the grass," Wislosky said. "Am I [going to] survive this?"
Dazed by the rollover, Wislosky climbed out of the cab wondering what happened and where did the other car go?
"Probably about 300 to 400 feet over the hill," Moon Run Volunteer Fire Department Chief Paul Kashmer said. "She must have thought she was on an airplane ride as she headed over the top of the hill. She got some air and the car landed on all fours,"
Miraculously, the female was for the most part okay.
"She was able to walk. She wanted to walk. She didn't want to be carried on a stretcher or anything. She insisted on walking," Chief Kashmer said.
She walked to a waiting ambulance that took her to the hospital for further evaluation. Wislosky said he's sore but he's also lucky.
State police are continuing to look at what may have caused the accident. They are looking into whether ice and speed may have played a part.
