Police Investigating Sex Assault In Philly Garage
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Steven Woodson, 32, has been charged with rape, aggravated assault, robbery and attempted murder after he's accused of attacking a 33-year-old woman in a Philadelphia parking garage.
Police say the attack happened around 10:30 a.m. on New Year's Day.
The victim told police Woodson approached her, then place his hand over her mouth when she got off the elevator.
He told her to give him her money so she offered her purse, but police say Woodson only wanted cash.
He began choking her until she lost consciousness.
She says she woke up in between two parked cars with Woodson on top of her demanding she remove the battery from her iPhone.
Then police say he began beating her head and face then choked her again until she lost consciousness.
When she woke up, she says she was sexually assaulted.
During the assault, police say the victim broke free and ran toward a car that had just entered the garage, screaming for help.
The witness drove after him until he was gone.
Police arrested Woodson shortly after that around 11 a.m.
Court papers show woodson lived in McKees Rocks at one point. Philadelphia police say he's most recently been living on Grandview Avenue in Mt. Washington.
In May of last year, Woodson was charged with open lewdness, indecent exposure and harassment in Allegheny County.
A criminal complaint says he's accused of exposing himself to a woman on the T. Police used surveillance video from the T to track Woodson down.
Court papers show he spent four months in jail.
And back in November of 1998, Woodson was charged with attempted murder for another incident in Philadelphia.
The victim in this New Year's Day attack suffered extensive injuries and is in stable condition at a Philadelphia Hospital.
