Police Investigating After Boy, 16, Dies In Monroeville Shooting

MONROEVILLE (KDKA) - Allegheny County homicide detectives are looking into a deadly shooting Monday night.

According to police, the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. in the 200-block of Trefoil Court in Monroeville.

The victim has been identified as Justin Clark, 16, of Penn Hills.

Police say they found out about this fatal shooting after a resident of the Monroe Meadows complex found the boy's body next to a car.

"Monroeville Police received a call of a man down in the parking lot of Trefoil Park apartments around the 1-200 block. Officers arrived promptly and found a black male subject that was shot in the upper left chest," Monroeville Police Chief Doug Cole said.

Clark was rushed to Forbes Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The 16-year-old was a student at Penn Hills this year, but attended Gateway for several years prior.

For those who knew Clark, the news of his passing is difficult to hear.

Today, school officials said grief counselors were working with students who were friends with Clark.

The Penn Hills School District has released this statement:

"It is with sorrow and sadness that we inform you of the passing of a member of our school community. Sophomore Justin Clark passed away late last evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at their time of need. We will have grief counselors on site in our guidance department for students and staff throughout the week."

Allegheny County homicide investigators haven't taken any suspects into custody yet, but Monroeville Police say they have some leads.

Police are remaining tight-lipped about the evidence that was recovered from the scene.

At this point, they're asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything to give them a call.
