Police Investigating After Bloomfield Home Shot Up
BLOOMFIELD (KDKA) – At least 10 bullets tore through a home in Bloomfield and the homeowner believes it started with a dispute over dogs.
The man said he wasn't home at the time the bullets started flying, but at least one of the casings landed where he regularly sits.
The incident happened at a home in the 300-block of Asia Way.
"The holes are through the front of the house, six shots are through the brick and all around the front window there," Don Urick said.
Urick breeds dogs, specifically the American Bully, which is a combination of pit bull, boxer and Staffordshire. They are bred to eliminate aggression.
According to Urick, the reason someone opened fire on his home is as amazing as it is senseless.
"It was just over what bloodline I carry, what bloodline they carry, their bloodline's better than mine. I never say mine's better than theirs," Urick said.
Breeding is competitive and lucrative. These animals can produce puppies that bring up to $3,000 dollars a dog.
Urick contends this breeders' debate fell to nasty texts and Facebook comments to gun fire.
"I'm in total shock. I'm still trying to digest it all. I'm on borrowed time believe me, my whole life I've been on borrowed time, but his is the icing on the cake," Urick said.
As for who is responsible, Urick said he knows and has told the police. Meanwhile, Urick is already planning his next move.
"Move as soon as we can," Urick said.
While Urick contemplates his future, the Pittsburgh Police continue their investigation.
