Police Investigate Overnight Shooting, Fire In South Side
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man is dead after police officers found him suffering from a gunshot wound overnight inside of a burning home on Pittsburgh's South Side.
Officials say two police officers were the first to spot the fire around 1 a.m. at the home on Eleanor Street.
According to authorities, the officers managed to get inside the burning building and pulled the man from the flames.
He was taken to a Mercy Hospital where he died from a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators say they believe it may have been self-inflicted.
Officials say the fire may have been an accidental result.
Back at the South Side home, firefighters managed to bring the flames under control quickly.
Police and fire crews continue to investigate the incident.
