Police, FBI Investigate Moon Twp. Bank Robbery
MOON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) –- Authorities continue their search for a suspect following a bank robbery inside of a Moon Township grocery store Sunday afternoon.
According to Moon Township police, the robbery happened just after 12 p.m. at the Citizens Bank inside the busy Giant Eagle supermarket on University Boulevard.
Police say they believe a man with a gun calmly walked past customers and approached a teller demanding money.
"It's very bold for someone to just come in and do that," said Kristen Good, a shopper.
"It's strange; I mean I've never heard of anything like that happening around here," added Barry King, another shopper.
Officials say the robber got away with an undetermined amount of cash. This is now the fourth recent robbery at a bank located inside an area supermarket.
"I come down here all the time and I usually have my 3-year-old son. It's kind of scary to know that this happens in my area," said shopper Amanda Houck.
Moon Township police talked to a number of customers who were inside the store when the robbery happened. They say they also found a red stain in the parking lot from where they believe the dye pack exploded on the cash.
Police say a white male was seen running from the bank. They also believe an SUV was involved. The FBI is now investigating.
