Police Investigate Fatal North Side Shooting
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot while behind the wheel of a van Thursday night on the city's North Side and ended up driving to the parking lot of a grocery store before he died from his injuries.
According to a Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman, the shooting is believed to have happened on Pressley Street around 10 p.m.
The victim managed to drive a short distance to the parking lot of the Giant Eagle on Cedar Avenue. That's when police were called.
"We have a male who has been fatally shot in a vehicle here," said Public Safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler. "We believe the shooting took place on the other end of Pressley Street and he drove here to the parking lot of Giant Eagle, where the car came to a stop."
Officials say the 27-year-old victim was shot multiple times from outside the vehicle.
The victim was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, but died from his injuries.
Police are looking for at least one suspect.
"We know that there was one shooter and he fled the scene, and that's really all we have at this point in time," said Toler.
Officials are not releasing the victim's name.
The investigation continues.
