Police Investigate Bank Robbery In Glassport
GLASSPORT (KDKA) -- Police are searching for a suspect after a bank in Glassport was held up this morning.
The robbery happened shortly after 10 a.m. at the Huntington Bank on Monongahela Avenue and 6th Street.
According to emergency dispatchers, the suspect showed a gun and demanded money.
He ran off. There's no word on how much money he was able to get away with.
The suspect is described as an African American male of slender build, about six-feet-four-inches tall. Authorities say he brandished a 9 millimeter semi-automatic handgun and wore sunglasses.
KDKA's Harold Hayes reports that one of the more unusual aspects of the robbery was that he did not rob just one teller.
"He went to the front teller - black male about 6-4 came in - went to the first teller asked for twenties, fifties and hundreds from her then went directly over to the second lady - same info - twenties, fifties and hundreds and exited through the back door," said Glassport Police Chief Howard Kifer.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call either the FBI, Allegheny county Police or Glassport Police.
