Police Investigate Armed Robbery At Plant In Ambridge
AMBRIDGE (KDKA) -- Police in Ambridge are investigating after an armed robbery at a local industrial plant.
According to police, the incident happened just before 6 a.m. Wednesday at the Centria facility in the 400-block of 19th Street.
Investigators say the victim, identified by police as Gerald Besong, was inside the facility after arriving at work for the day.
According to police, Besong reported that the noticed that the lights were on in his boss's office before the time his boss usually arrives for work.
Police say when he went to check he found the suspect inside, who had a hood pulled over his head and a black handgun. Besong reported that the suspect demanded his money and told him to lie down on the floor.
The suspect is described as a white male who was about six-feet tall, 200 pounds with scruffy facial hair. He was reportedly wearing blue jeans, tan boots and a black, hooded sweatshirt.
Authorities say Besong reported that the suspect also smelled of an "odd odor," which may have been motor oil or grease.
Police say Besong called police from an adjacent building after managing to get to an exit.
Investigators say the suspect got away with about $90 and a black, Dell lap top computer with a decal of a "Boston Terrier Dog" just above the Dell emblem.
Police say they have reviewed surveillance video of the incident and the investigation continues.
