Police Investigate Alleged Attempted Abduction In Homewood
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh police are looking for a suspect accused of allegedly grabbing a boy and trying to pull him into a house in Homewood Wednesday.
Authorities say the 13-year-old boy told police he was walking along the 8200-block of Frankstown Avenue when a man approached and offered him money to help him move furniture.
"'I need help moving a love seat, a couch and some more furniture – a little bit of furniture,'" Aisa Whitfield, the victim said. "He also said, 'I'll give you about like $50 or $40.''
The boy agreed, but when they got to the house at 8207 Frankstown Avenue, officials say the child got suspicious and tried to run.
Police say the man allegedly grabbed the boy, choked him and tried to drag him into the home.
"He went to go pick me up by from my waist… and he went to go put me back down, and then he was like, 'I'm about to rob you,'" said Whitfield. "And whenever he had me in a chokehold, I slid right out of the chokehold, and then my clothes were still up there."
However, the 13-year-old was able to get free and escape.
"I ran down a little path, and I ran out into the middle of the street," he said.
Police are looking for a light-skinned African American man about 5-feet-11-inches tall and 225 pounds.
He was wearing khaki pants and a blue hoodie.
