Police: Driver Was Under Influence
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police say the driver who led officers on a chase on the Parkway East early this morning before crashing his car was under the influence of alcohol and was driving with an expired license that had been suspended for DUI.
Two Forest Hills officers tried to stop Jason Grubb shortly after 2 a.m. after seeing his car hit a concrete median and continue to weave across the center line; but officials say Grubb kept going.
Police say Grubb got of the Parkway and began speeding at about 90 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone. Grubb lost control of his car, which then veered off the road, struck the base of a traffic light and crashed into a concrete garage on Ardmore Boulevard.
Grubb suffered what investigators describe as "severe injuries" in the accident and was taken to Mercy Hospital.
Charges are now pending against Grubb.
