Police: Couple Stole $1,200 Worth Of Teeth Whitener At Target
HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- State police are looking for a couple who allegedly stole $1,200 worth of teeth whitener from the Target in Hempfield Township.
Surveillance video shows a couple entering the Hempfield Square store on Route 30.
"It looks like they're a team when they're going around conducting the theft - maybe ones a lookout, while the other is taking merchandise," said Trooper Steve Limani, of Pennsylvania State Police.
Police describe them as a white female and a white male, average height.
"There's a female that is taking the teeth whitening equipment; she's putting it in her purse," said Limani. "They approach her as she's leaving the store. The male that's with her starts a fight and attacks the loss prevention officer."
After that, the pair ran out of the store and into the parking lot, where they drove off in a four-door silver car.
But why teeth whitening kits?
"You're talking about those top of the line kits. They could be in that $50 range," said Trooper Limani. "They're going to be sold on some type of website, even going into consignment shops."
And this isn't an isolated case of teeth whitening theft.
"This is the third report that I've read over in the past six months," Trooper Limani said.
The loss prevention officer did get roughed up in the scuffle, but he only suffered minor injuries.
Anyone with information is asked to call state police.
