Police: Attempted Kidnapping In West Mifflin A Hoax
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – It turns out the suspected attempted kidnapping in West Mifflin early this week was all a rouse.
It started Monday night when a woman told police she was attacked by a man trying to kidnap her near the Empire Beauty School in Century Square around 10 p.m.
The accusation then prompted a search for a light green van and scruffy white male, which police were not able to locate.
But as of Friday, police say a thorough investigation of physical evidence and surveillance proved that no attack actually happened.
The woman at one point told police the suspect in question had put something over her face, but it turned out that it was just water on her face and jacket.
Police say they are considering criminal charges or mental health options.
