Police Arrest Woman In Deadly Stowe Twp. Head-On Crash
STOWE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A woman has been arrested in connection with causing a chain reaction series of events that claimed the life elderly man in Stowe Township.
Police say 52-year-old Jennifer Roedler is accused of driving under the influence when she crashed into a box truck on Dec. 5.
The truck was from Perri's Produce.
The business's owner, 86-year-old Anthony Perri, was in the back of the truck, unloading a shipment.
He was thrown from the vehicle and hit his head.
"She left the lane of travel, collided head on with the parked truck," said Lt. Andrew Schurman, of Allegheny County Police. "She stayed at the scene and was detained by the local police."
He died a week later on Dec. 12 from his injuries.
Police say Roedler's blood alcohol was three times over the legal limit.
"Her blood alcohol at the time of impact was .237," Lt. Schurman said.
Roedler is facing multiple charges including homicide by vehicle and homicide by vehicle while DUI.
She was being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
