Police Arrest Teen In Connection With Brentwood Street Robberies
BRENTWOOD (KDKA) -- A teenager is now in police custody in connection with an armed robbery in Brentwood.
"I didn't do it. I didn't rob them women," said Khari Williams, the suspect. "I didn't go out and make all these robberies."
But police say they believe that Williams, 18, of Baldwin, is responsible for at least one of more than half a dozen street robberies since the middle of June.
"He was arrested for one robbery in particular, and he is also a suspect in several others," said Officer Matthew DeLallo, of Brentwood Police.
Williams is charged with robbing a man last Monday about 1 a.m. at the bottom of Pyramid Avenue.
"He reported he was held up at gunpoint," said Officer DeLallo.
Police were concerned because the robberies have been progressively getting more violent.
"One of the female victims was actually kicked in the face while the person was stealing her purse," Officer DeLallo said.
Word of the arrest spread quickly.
Elisia Snyder lives nearby.
"He was doing it right by my house, so my parents were like - be safe, make sure you're like walking home with somebody," Snyder said.
Williams is being held at the Allegheny County Jail.
