Police Arrest Suspect In Catalytic Convertor Thefts In The North Hills
ROSS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Police have a suspect in custody in a string of catalytic convertor thefts across the North Hills.
According to Ross Township Police, 27-year-old Taylor Baldt, of Mars, was captured shortly after the latest thefts.
Catalytic convertors were cut from parked vehicles in Ohio Township Thursday morning.
That put police on alert and when Ross Township Police spotted a pick-up truck matching the description of the suspect's in the park-and-ride lot on Perrysville Avenue, they moved in.
"The individual had the catalytic convertors in the truck that he had taken earlier this morning, and actually taken two from the park-and-ride just in the time before our officer got there and was able to apprehend him," said Ross Township Police Det. Brian Kohlhepp.
Ross Township Police say Baldt is a suspect in 30 to 50 thefts of catalytic convertors.
They are said to be worth about $100 apiece when sold for scrap.
The investigation continues.
