Polamalu Not Worried About His Or Harrison's Health
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- Steelers safety Troy Polamalu acknowledges fellow Defensive Player of the Year honoree James Harrison is a presence on the field, but he doesn't believe the uncertainty surrounding Harrison's health--or his own--will affect his play in Sunday's Week 2 contest against the New York Jets at Heinz Field.
"He's one of the best players in the NFL. Obviously you're going to miss someone of that caliber when they're not on the field. But it's no different than if anybody else is missing. It's all in the job title," Polamalu said after practice on the South Side.
He did not participate in Wednesday's session due to what has been described as a minor calf injury, nor did Harrison. Earlier this week head coach Mike Tomlin would not rule out Harrison, who has been recovering from off-season knee surgery, for Sunday's game.
Polamalu offered no further update on his own ailment, which was first spotted after the Steelers' season-opening 31-19 loss in Denver.
"Coach Tomlin knows my injuries better than I do," he said.
He did, however, have plenty to say about what Tim Tebow can bring to the Jets' offense, and whether or not the Steelers' defense must adjust accordingly to the notion that the NFL is more of an offense-minded league these days:
