Polamalu Decision To Come Friday At The Earliest

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - The status of Pittsburgh Steelers' safety Troy Polamalu, for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns, will not be known until Friday at the earliest.

Coach Mike Tomlin at this weekly press conference on Tuesday said, Polamalu won't practice on Wednesday or Thursday. Polamalu is trying to rest and heal an injured right Achilles tendon.

Tomlin said,"Troy is improving" and "if he's healthy, he will play." However, if he doesn't practice on Friday, he won't play against the Browns.

One Steeler isn't optimistic about Polamalu playing on Sunday. Steelers' linebacker James Farrior said, it didn't look good for Polamalu to be ready.

The Steelers head into Sunday's game against the Browns with destiny in their hands. If they beat the Browns, the Steelers will secure the second seed in the AFC and receive a first-round bye.

If they lose and the Ravens win, the Steelers will get a wild card spot and have to go on the road for the first round of the playoffs.

The Steelers have won 13 of their last 14 games against the Browns, with the only loss coming at the end of the season last year. That loss to the Browns prevented the Steelers from making the playoffs. Many players are using that as motivation for Sunday's game.

Steelers' linebacker LaMarr Woodley said, "We have to take care of Cleveland. Last year, when we played Cleveland down there, they took care of business on us. We have to make sure that doesn't happen this year."

Tomlin disagrees and said,"What's at stake right now and right here is enough motivation."
