Pittsburgh Weather: Rain, Snow Chances Coming Wednesday And Thursday
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Usually, clearing skies in February would mean exceptionally cold temperatures.
That will not be the case on Tuesday night. After our skies clear, temperatures will begin climbing. We'll be back to freezing by the morning commute, and look for highs to lift into the mid-40s during the afternoon.
This warm up does come with rain and snow chances. The first little precipitation becomes possible Wednesday afternoon. Anything that falls during this time will be isolated and light.
The better chances for scattered rain and snow will be Wednesday night and Thursday. With temperatures during these times staying above freezing, we are not anticipating this rain or snow to be problematic.
This weekend, temperatures will cool off again, and we will see snow showers possible on Saturday. The cold temperatures and snow chances will continue through early next week.
With Lake Erie mostly frozen, our lake effect snow chances are lessened. There are still several cracks, though, meaning lake moisture is still possible and the warmer temperatures we will be seeing could lead to more cracks in the ice.
