Pittsburgh police investigating deadly stabbing in Homewood West neighborhood
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh police said a woman is dead after someone stabbed her at a home by Lyric and Lincoln in Homewood on Monday morning.
Crime tape blocked off Lyric Street for hours as investigators went in and out of a house, collecting evidence.
Officers got called to respond there just before 5 a.m.
When they arrived, they found a woman stabbed in the chest and treated her until medics got there, but she died on the scene.
Police said the incident may have started with a possible altercation. On radio traffic, dispatchers initially called officers to the area for a complaint saying, "There's three or four females outside, intoxicated, chasing each other with knives."
Investigators have not confirmed this report or shared any information about a person KDKA-TV saw taken out of the home in question in handcuffs. Police said they have yet to make any arrests.
Police told KDKA-TV that other people lived in the home. Dispatchers reported a child having been inside when first responders got there.
A blue Jeep SUV also was towed away from the scene. It remains unclear if it has any connection to the incident.
Ronnald Randall of Clairton was driving by when he saw the police activity.
"Unfortunately, these neighborhoods are going to war in a different way," Randall said.
He's praying for the violence to stop.
"It's just too much, too much," Randall said.
