Officer Injured By Dog Overnight In Beltzhoover
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Pittsburgh police officer was taken to the hospital overnight after officials say she was injured by a dog in the city's Beltzhoover section.
According to authorities, police officers were called to Eureka Street around midnight for a report of a dog on the loose in the neighborhood.
Officials say the female officer was scratched by the pit bull at the scene. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injury.
So far, there is no word on her condition, but she did have a rabies test as a precaution.
After the officer was hurt, officials say another police officer chased after the dog, which reportedly ran into an empty home. The dog was shot and killed.
It's unclear if the dog was a stray or someone's pet.
