Pittsburgh Native RJ Umberger Breaks Down Pens-Lightning

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) -- Columbus Blue Jacket Forward and Pittsburgh native RJ Umberger joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to preview the first round matchup between the Penguins and Lightning starting on Wednesday.

Umberger said he wishes the Pens' top talent was going to be playing, but it will still be an interesting series and the Pens experience should give them the edge.

RJ is known as a goal scorer, so we had him break down the goaltending matchup in this series and he gave us the book on both Marc-Andre Fleury and Dwayne Roloson.  RJ told us that when he played for the Flyers, one of the keys to beating Fleury was getting to him early and battling him physically in front of the net, otherwise he will shut you down.

One major strength that Umberger identified in Fleury was that he can have a bad game and bounce right back, which is a major key in the playoffs.

Being a Pittsburgh native, RJ told us whether or not he'd be rooting for the Pens, but says he most likely won't be watching the first round since he needs to get away from things for a while and deal with his team not making the postseason.

We wrapped things up with RJ by asking him about the concussion he suffered earlier in his career, and how it changed his approach to the game after recovering from it.
