Pittsburgh International Airport Offering Incentives For New Non-Stop Destinations
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Are there cities you wish you could fly non-stop to from Pittsburgh International Airport? If you said yes, you're not alone.
The Allegheny County Airport Authority did a recent poll of which destinations flyers would like to be able to fly to non-stop.
San Diego, Seattle, New Orleans, and Jacksonville, Fla., topped the list according to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The big international stop not on the list was London. The Post-Gazette also did their own poll, and it was the top vote getter.
Other cities in the top 12 are Milwaukee; San Antonio/Austin, Texas; Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Kansas City, Mo.; Nashville, Tenn.; Salt Lake City; Oklahoma City; and Love Field in Dallas.
To try and lure airlines in, the newspapers reports that the Allegheny County Airport Authority is offering incentives, ranging from a waiver of landing fees to marketing support, for any airline willing to take a gamble on those routes or eight other coveted destinations.
