Pittsburgh Honors Veterans With Annual Parade

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It's a day when we remember and honor the men and women who are fighting and have fought for our country. As always, Pittsburgh honored our veterans with a large parade.

People lined the route to watch the 92nd Annual Veterans Day Parade this morning.

The festivities began at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Liberty Avenue and 11th Street and then proceeded down Grant Street to the Boulevard of the Allies and ended at the former state office building.

Many of the veterans were waving flags as they marched, and local high school bands also participated.

Maria Holt of Oakdale was in the crowd. She was there for her husband who is an active military member and has served several tours of duty.

"Really proud of my husband," said Holt. "He's been to Iraq and Kuwait. [The parade is] very special to us."

There are 33,000 veterans living in Pittsburgh.
