Pitt's Patterson 1st To Get ACC Player Of The Week Multiple Times In Years

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- After having big wins against Maryland and Wake Forest, senior forward Lamar Patterson has been named ACC Player of the week for the second time this season.

He is the first Pitt player to receive the award more than once since Sam Young did in the 2008-09 season.

The New Jersey native led Pitt this past week averaging 23 points, five rebounds and four assists per game, while having a whopping field goal percentage of 62.1 percent. He also led the team against Maryland Monday with 19 points, grabbing five rebounds.

But Patterson would show that he was just warming up as Patterson led his team with a game high on Saturday against Wake Forest with 27 points, which included four 3-pointers as he went 4-7 from beyond the arc. Along with his scoring, Patterson also was able to grab five rebounds and have five assists.

This season, the senior forward has led his team all season long in scoring with 17.9 points per game and also leads his team in total assists with 72. To top it all off, he just needs 12 more rebounds and 55 more assists to become just the third player in school history with 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 400 assists in an overall career.

Pitt now takes their five-game winning streak on the road as they face Georgia Tech tomorrow night at 9 p.m.
