Pitt's Lewis, Baldwin & Hynoski Could Declare For Draft
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Pitt beat reporter Paul Zeise wrote in his blog that three Pitt Panthers are considering entry into the 2011 NFL Draft.
The players are running back Dion Lewis, wide receiver Jon Baldwin and fullback Henry Hynoski.
Zeise noted that former head coach Dave Wannstedt told Lewis he would be a third-round pick.
Baldwin, a junior, finished the season with 810 yards and five touchdowns on 52 receptions. During his sophomore season, he compiled 1,111 yards and eight touchdowns on 57 receptions.
Scouts Inc. doesn't have Baldwin projected in the top 32, but he could be a first-round pick with a stand-out NFL Combine performance.
The NFL Scouting Combine will be held Feb. 23 through March 1 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
Depending on the outcome of the collective bargaining negotiations, there is a chance the NFL Draft could be delayed or may not happen at all. The NFL owners opted out of the current CBA, which expires in March, and the NFLPA is planning for an owners' lockout.
If the draft does proceed as previously planned, the first round will be held on Thursday, April 28 at Radio City Music Hall. The second and third rounds will be on Friday and rounds four through seven will happen on Saturday.
