Pitt's Banks Ruled Eligible For 2011
Pittsburgh (KDKA)- The Pitt football team received some good news today when one of their incoming transfers was ruled eligible for this season.
Head coach Todd Graham announced that sophomore cornerback E.J. Banks received a waiver from the NCAA and will be allowed to play in 2011.
Normally a transfer must sit out a full season but Banks received a special exception because of the reason he left Notre Dame for Pitt.
Graham said, "He had a hardship with his family where he was having to be one of the primary caregivers to one of his immediate family members. They granted the waiver based on that."
It's being reported that Bank's mother is sick.
Banks was a three-star recruit in the class of 2009 and was ranked the No. 13 prospect in the state of Pennsylvania.
Banks will have 3 years of eligibility with the Panthers.
