Pitt Win Over Virginia Tech Brings About Multiple Individual Awards
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - While their 21-16 victory over Virginia Tech did a lot for the Pitt football team as a whole, it also brought to light several individual performances that resulted in ACC weekly honors.
Earning those honors were Senior Tackle T.J. Clemmings, Sophomore Cornerback Reggie Mitchell and Redshirt Freshman Punter Ryan Winslow.
Leading the way in the Panthers rushing attack that racked up 210 yards, Clemmings was named the ACC's Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week. Making the Panthers' rushing attack even more impressive in this game, was the Hokies coming into the night ranked 16th nationally in stopping the run allowing just 108.8 yards per game.
This marks the second time Clemmings has been given the ACC's weekly offensive lineman award.
Mitchell earned the ACC's Defensive Back of the Week award after recording 10 tackles and forcing two fumbles. Winslow was named the Specialist of the Week for putting five of his seven punts inside the 15-yard-line and tying his career long with a 50-yard punt.
The Panthers will be quick to turn their attention to their next matchup though as they welcome Georgia Tech to Heinz Field this Saturday, October 25th.
