Pitt Running Back James Conner Named Doak Walker Award Semifinalist
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pitt running back James Conner continues to receive recognition for his stellar play this year.
Conner has rushed for 1,562 yards this season, the third highest total in the country and 21 touchdowns, also the third highest total in the country.
The Pitt sophomore has now been named a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award, presented annually to the nation's top running back.
This is the second national award Conner has been named as a semifinalist for as just earlier this month Conner was named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, presented to the college football player of the year.
On top of his rushing and touchdown totals, Conner leads the nation in rushed resulting in a first down, 12 more than the next closest players.
