Pitt Remains No. 5 In AP Top 25 Rankings
(KDKA/AP) - Ohio State took over the No. 1 spot in the AP Top 25 poll after Duke lost to Florida State last week.
Ohio State received 49 first place votes, followed by No. 2 Kansas with six votes. Syracuse was ranked third and received eight first place votes.
Duke and Pittsburgh rounded out the top five. Both received a single first place vote each.
San Diego, Villanova, UConn, BYU and Texas round out the top 10.
The Big East conference remains the dominant conference in the standings.
Besides No. 5 Pitt, No. 3 Syracuse, No. 7 'Nova and UConn at No. 8, the Big East has five other teams in the AP Top 25 poll. With nine Big East teams in the rankings, the conference has tied their record for the most teams in the rankings by a single conference.
West Virginia moved into the rankings for the first time this season, jumping to 21st after their 68-64 win over then No. 8 Purdue.
Louisville, Cincinnati, Notre Dame and Georgetown were the other Big East teams in the AP Top 25 rankings.
