Pitt QBs Tom Savage & Chad Voytik Preview Upcoming Season
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - While in a competition for the same starting quarterback job, Tom Savage and Chad Voytik took some time out of their schedule to stop by with Starkey, Miller and Fillipponi and talk about what they're doing to get ready for the season.
"Right now we're just in classes, we're just working out, trying to get together. Really, ultimately, just trying to stay fit," Savage said.
Voytik added the team is working specifically on "shifts and motions, trying to get the guys together and get our minds a little bit ready for camp."
Being one of the players recruited by Todd Graham in his only recruiting class at Pitt, Voytik talks about what made him stay at Pitt.
"I didn't commit to Coach Graham, I committed to the university," he said. "I picked Pitt for other reasons than just the coaching staff, and it fit me in a lot of different ways that were still there when he left."
The two signal callers also talked about former Pitt running back Rushel Shell and how the team has viewed his decision to transfer and failed attempt to rejoin the team.
"Everyone liked him," Savage said. "Obviously, he felt that leaving was the best thing for him and his family. He's a good guy, a great player, obviously."
Things wrapped up on a lighter note as we pitted the guys against each other in a game of ACC trivia.
