Pitt Guard Cam Wright Says Team Uses Lack Of Top 25 Ranking As Motivation
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Despite starting the season 8-0, the Pitt Men's Basketball team has yet to crack the top 25, and while some players and teams say they don't let that bother them, Cam Wright told Starkey, Miller and Mueller how he and his teammates use it as motivation.
"We definitely pay attention to it. I'd be sitting here and lying to you if I said we didn't pay attention," Wright said. "That just gives us a chip on our shoulder to come out every day and play that much harder. We are 8-0 and I'm excited, we just have to keep it going."
Wright also discussed the renewed rivalry with Penn State as the two teams met earlier this week with the Panthers coming out on top 78-69 and how he'd like to see the rivalry continue.
"I guess they're trying to bring it back as a type of rivalry game," Wright told us. "The Zoo loved it, I feel like the attendance in The Zoo was amazing, the crowd was intense. I feel like it was a pretty good game and I wouldn't mind seeing them again next year on the schedule."
Things wrapped up with Wright talking about the emergence of Lamar Patterson as a leader on this team and the play of former teammate Steven Adams in the NBA.
