Pitt Football's Rori Blair Named Nominee For 2014 Orange Bowl-FWAA Courage Award
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pitt football freshman defensive lineman Rori Blair, out of Upper St. Clair High School, suffered a stroke in April 2012 and nearly died from the complications, but now finds himself healthy and a part of a major college football program.
Given everything he has overcome to reach this point, Blair has been named the sixth weekly nominee for the 2014 Orange Bowl-FWAA Courage Award.
Blair has appeared in all seven of the Panthers games this year recording 11 total tackles including 3.5 for a loss.
The Courage Award was first presented by the FWAA in 2002. A select group of writers from the FWAA vote on the winner each year.
The requirements for nomination include displaying courage on or off the field, including overcoming an injury or physical handicap, preventing a disaster or living through hardship.
The winner of the award will be included in festivities during Orange Bowl week and receive his trophy at an on-field presentation.
