Pitt Football Depth Chart Notes
Pittsburgh (KDKA)- Todd Graham and the Pitt Panthers officially started to game plan yesterday for their season vs. Buffalo.
Following practice, Graham officially named a couple of starters for the season opener.
In somewhat of surprise, Juantez Hollins (Aliquippa grad) was named the Panthers starting left tackle. Barring a late changes, the starting offensive line will be: Juantez Hollins-Chris Jacobson-Ryan Turnley-Lucas Nix-Jordan Gibbs.
*Graham also announced that former 4-star recruit Todd Thomas is the starting spur linebacker. It appears as though Thomas has found a home after playing both safety and wide receiver. It's very unusual that a team starts a freshman linebacker, but it's obvious Graham is starting the most talented player regardless of their class.
*Freshman walk-on Trey Anderson contined to run as Pitt's 2nd team quarterback ahead of 4-star recruit Mark Myers.
*Paul Zeise of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette pointed out two freshman to keep an eye on this season: tailback Corey Davis and receiver Ronald Jones. Zeise says that "Davis is fun to watch, he's explosive, he is fast and he is a threat to go the distance every time he touches it." Jones is a 5-8, 165 lb. speedster from Fort Meade, Florida.
