Pitt AD Steve Pederson On Pitt-PSU Annoucement
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Pittsburgh Athletic Director Steve Pederson joinED Seibel, Starkey, and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to talk about the renewed rivalry between PITT and PSU.
Pederson spoke of how the deal came about, saying it was Penn State that contacted him about putting the deal in motion. Pederson said he and Penn State's Athletic Director Tim Curley know each other well so the deal went through very smoothly saying both are looking forward to the games in 2016 and 2017.
When asked how he felt about extending the rivalry beyond 2017, he said it was his understanding that he and Tim Curley agreed to continue talking beyond the two game series but there was no deal made at this time. Pederson also talked about the great response he has already received from fans and alumni with great excitement surrounding the renewed rivalry between PITT and PSU.
We wrapped things up with Pederson having him talk about the new coach at PITT, Todd Graham, and how this upcoming season will be a fun one to watch. He also said he cannot wait for fall camp after the spring sessions went so well and has great expectations for PITT football this year.
