Pitt Analyst Pat Bostick Breaks Down Pitt-UConn
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- Pitt analyst and former quarterback Pat Bostick joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sports Radio 93-7 The FAN to talk about what happened to Pitt football last week in East Hartford, Conn., as they got beat by the UConn Huskies.
Bostick talked about the adversity Pitt faced early in that game, and how they needed a leader to step up and tell them they needed to turn things around, but that element of the team is missing.
Outside of the leadership issue, Bostick said he saw a lack of discipline, emotion and execution, which implied a lack of effort from the team in the first half.
We also discussed the unusual play calling at the end of the first half for Pitt, and what he thought about head coach Paul Chryst leaving two timeouts on the board.
Bostick stuck around with the guys for a second segment to take a look at the challenges in front of Steelers' quarterback Byron Leftwich as he steps in for the injured Ben Roethlisberger this week.
Bostick said his throwing motion was similar to Leftwich's during his playing days in that it's a little long, but he more than makes up for it with his velocity.
One concern Bostick has with Leftwich's throwing motion though is that you become more susceptible to strip sacks because your arm isn't moving forward at the early part of the windup and you won't get the benefit of the tuck rule until your arm rises up.
