Pirates Trade Diaz To Atlanta
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Pirates were buyers at the trade deadline, but they became sellers on Wednesday.
According to the Pirates, Matt Diaz was traded to the Atlanta Braves for a player to be named or cash considerations.
Diaz returns to the Braves after signing with the Pirates as a free agent in December.
In 100 games with the Pirates, Diaz batted .259 with 19 RBIs.
Diaz, a six-year veteran, spent his first five seasons with the Braves.
Atlanta currently holds an 8.5 game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Wild Card race.
