Pirates Pummeled By Brewers, 11-4
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) -- The Pirates managed just 11 hits in their 11-4 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers Tuesday night.
Ross Ohlendorf, returning for the first time since April, lasted five innings, giving up seven runs – four earned – and striking out three.
Milwaukee took a 7-0 lead in the second inning which included RBIs from Jonathan Lucroy, Marco Estrada, Nyjer Morgan and Ryan Braun, who drove in two runs.
A throwing error by Ryan Doumit allowed a run to score.
Casey McGehee also had a two-run homer in the inning – his 10th of the season.
The Pirates made it 7-1 when Xavier Paul batted in Ronny Cedeno on a single fly ball in the third. Josh Harrison hit his first major league homer in the fifth to make it 7-2.
The Brewers added two runs after Prince Fielder's RBI double in the sixth and McGehee's sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Neil Walker and Garrett Jones each drove in a run at the bottom of the eighth.
Marco Estrada allowed two runs over seven innings, beating the Pirates for the second time in 11 days.
The Brewers (78-53) surpassed last season's win total and topped Pittsburgh for the 14th time in the past 15 meetings.
