The Pittsburgh Pirates completed three trades at the MLB trade deadline, one of those trades moving veteran closer Octavio Dotel to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Pirates started off the day by acquiring veteran catcher Chris Snyder from the Arizona Diamondbacks, along with minor-league shortstop Pedro Ciriaco and $3 million in cash.  In return, the Buccos sent reliever D. J. Carrasco, outfielder Ryan Church and infielder Bobby Crosby out west.

The next move sent closer Octavio Dotel to the Los Angeles Dodgers in return for minor-league outfielder Andrew Lambo and right-hander James McDonald.

The final move yielded two more minor-league players from San Francisco, right-handed starter Joseph Martinez and outfielder John Bowker.  The Pirates gave up reliever Javier Lopez.

Snyder and McDonald will join the big league club, while Ciriaco, Martinez, and Bowker will head to Triple-A Indianapolis.  Andrew Lambo will report to Double-A Altoona.

Snyder will assume the role of starting catcher immediately.
