Pirates Lose To Phillies, 4-3
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — The middle of the lineup succeeded Monday night but the Pirates lost, 4-3, at Philadelphia.
Center fielder Andrew McCutchen, second baseman Neil Walker and first baseman Garrett Jones all went 1 for 4 with one RBI on the night, batting 3-4-5 in the lineup. McCutchen hit a solo homer in the sixth inning to tie the game, 3-3.
However, Phillies infielder Freddy Galvis tripled in the bottom of the seventh off Pirates reliever Ryan Beckman to score Ty Wigginton for the winning run.
Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez went 0 for 3 on the night. Reliever Evan Meek allowed one run, one hit in one inning pitched.
