Pirates Lose To Brewers, 7-2
MILWAUKEE (KDKA/AP) -- How do you solve the Milwaukee Brewers?
The Pirates are still trying to figure it out after losing to them 7-2 at Miller Park on Friday night.
It was their 10th straight road loss to the Brewers who hold first place in the NL Central.
Paul Maholm lasted just five innings, allowing four runs – three earned – on seven hits.
Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder hit back-to-back homers in the bottom of the eighth. This after the Pirates picked up two runs after being shutout over seven innings.
Zack Greinke, the 2009 AL Cy Young winner, struck out nine and retired 11 straight at one point as Milwaukee maintained its four-game lead over St. Louis in the division race.
Milwaukee built a 4-0 lead off Maholm (6-13) before the Pirates rallied, only to have Braun and Fielder answer right back.
