Pirates Injury News
Pittsburgh (KDKA)- The Pirates have updated the conditions of Jose Tabata and Pedro Alvarez, plus provided some other news and notes.
Pirates News & Notes:
*Outfielder Jose Tabata has been diagnosed with a left quad strain. His status is uncertain at this time.
*Infielder Pedro Alvarez began a rehab assignment with the GCL Pirates today. In a rain-suspended game, Alvarez played third base and went 0-for-1 at the plate. He is expected to have his rehab assignment transferred to Bradenton Tuesday.
*RHP Kevin Hart had a visit with Dr. Andrews it was determined that the best course of action for him is to stop pitching activities and to shift the focus to rehab and strengthening again for about one month.
*Outfielder Alex Presley has officially been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis.
*The Pirates have also acquired minor league catcher Miguel Perez from the Washington organization in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Perez was a member of the Pittsburgh organization in 2008-2009.
*RHP Mike Crotta has been recalled from his rehab assignment, reinstated from Pittsburgh's disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.
