Pirates Fall To Twins 5-4
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- Postcards from Bradenton: A Daily Blog from Pirates Spring Training.
A four-run 4th inning lifted the Minnesota Twins to a 5-4 win over the Pirates Monday in Ft. Myers, Fla.
The loss was the first for the Pirates this spring. The Bucs (2-1) were paced by a pair of hits from Jordy Mercer, an RBI single for Felix Pie who is now 3 for 7 with 3 RBI this spring and OF Jose Tabata added a solo HR in the 7th inning.
Kyle McPherson was the latest of the Pirates starting pitchers to have a good first outing. He pitched two scoreless innings allowing just a hit. The Pirates starting pitchers have combined for seven scoreless innings in three games thus far. ( Jeff Locke, James McDonald and McPherson).
Wandy Rodriguez will make his spring debut Tuesday at 1:05 pm vs. the Orioles at McKechnie Field.
Andy Oliver, Vin Mazzaro, Bryan Morris, Hunter Strickland, Duke Welker and Mike Zagurski are also scheduled to pitch Tuesday.
The Fan Morning Show will be broadcasting live all week from Bradenton. Pirates CF Andrew McCutchen will join the guys Tuesday at 7:20 a.m.
