Pirates Fall 5-1 To Indians, Lose 2nd Straight
CLEVELAND (KDKA/AP) -- For all the winning the Pirates have done this month, over the last two nights in Cleveland they have looked a lot like the team that lost 105 games last year.
The Indians' Carlos Carrasco took a no-hitter into the sixth inning as the Pirates lost 5-1 Saturday evening at Progressive Field.
Carrasco (7-3) extended his scoreless streak to 21 1-3 innings before finishing up allowing one run and four hits in 6 1-3 innings. He won his third straight start.
Orlando Cabrera hit a solo homer while Grady Sizemore scored two runs and drove in another off Paul Maholm (3-8).
The Indians have won four of six games after losing nine of 10.
Meanwhile, the Pirates lost their second straight game following a four-game winning streak. They dropped to 0-12 in road interleague games since winning at Minnesota on June 17, 2009.
Rookie Michael McKenry broke up Carrasco's no-hit bid with a leadoff single in the sixth off second baseman Cabrera's glove.
The Pirates and Indians finish up their three-game series on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
