Pirates & Padres Agree To Trade, Jones Designated For Assignment

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres agreed to a three-player deal Monday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Pirates, the Pirates acquired outfielder Jaff Decker and pitcher Miles Mikolas in exchange for outfielder Alex Dickerson.

To make room for the two new players, the Pirates designated Garrett Jones and Kyle McPherson for assignment.

Decker was taken with the 42nd overall pick in the 2008 drafts. Last season, he hit .286 with 23 doubles, 10 home runs and 40 RBI in 105 games with Triple-A Tucson.

The right-handed Mikolas was 4-2 with 26 saves and a 3.25 ERA in 54 appearances with Triple-A Tucson last year.

Dickerson hit .288 with 17 home runs and 68 RBI in 126 games with Altoona. For his efforts, he was named the Eastern League Rookie of the Year.
